چکیده

Abstract Additive manufacturing (AM) of metallic powder particles has been establishing itself as sustainable, whatever the technology selected. Material extrusion (MEX) integrates ongoing effort to improve AM sustainability, in which low-cost equipment is associated with a decrease waste during manufacturing. MEX gaining increasing interest for building 3D functional/structural parts because it incorporates consolidated knowledge from injection moulding/extrusion feedstocks into scope—filament layer-by-layer. Moreover, an indirect process can overcome some technical limitations direct processes (laser/electron-beam-based) regarding energy-matter interactions. The present study reveals optimal methodology produce filament (metallic powder, binder, and additives), having mind attain highest content. Nevertheless, main challenges are also achieve high extrudability suitable ratio between stiffness flexibility. volume content (vol.%) was evaluated by critical concentration (CPVC). Subsequently, rheology established means mixing torque value, related performance.

Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing

This paper gives an overview of the issues and opportunities for the application of topology optimization methods for additive manufacturing (AM). The main analysis issues discussed are: how to achieve the maximum geometric resolution to allow the fine features easily manufacturable by AM to be represented in the optimization model; the manufacturing constraints to be considered, and the workfl...

Additive Manufacturing: Reproducibility of Metallic Parts

The present study deals with the properties of five different metals/alloys (Al-12Si, Cu-10Sn and 316L—face centered cubic structure, CoCrMo and commercially pure Ti (CP-Ti)—hexagonal closed packed structure) fabricated by selective laser melting. The room temperature tensile properties of Al-12Si samples show good consistency in results within the experimental errors. Similar reproducible resu...

Mechatronic Design for an Extrusion-Based Additive Manufacturing Machine

3D printers, especially in the implementation of innovative extrusion processes which do not have a long history of development, are often built by adapting mechanical designs, drives and controls previously developed for generic machine tools. This is done through a process of choice and integration which is based principally on empirical criteria and taking into account separately the differe...

A Novel Extrusion-based Additive Manufacturing Process for Ceramic Parts

An extrusion-based additive manufacturing process, called the Ceramic On-Demand Extrusion (CODE) process, for producing three-dimensional ceramic components with near theoretical density is introduced in this paper. In this process, an aqueous paste of ceramic particles with a very low binder content (<1 vol%) is extruded through a moving nozzle at room temperature. After a layer is deposited, ...

Self-supporting Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing

The paper presents a topology optimization approach that designs an optimal structure, called a self-supporting structure, which is ready to be fabricated via additive manufacturing without the usage of additional support structures. Such supports in general have to be created during the fabricating process so that the primary object can be manufactured layer by layer without collapse, which is...
